The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:
- Lead / supervise, with support of senior scientists, one or more CRL technology projects that are aligned with future Hexcel business needs.
- Contribute directly to laboratory work and work with other team members as required to achieve project goals.
- Ensure research is conducted in a safe manner according to best practice and that all environmental and transportation legislation is adhered to.
- Read external literature, such as academic papers and patents, to stay current with the state of the art in composites. May attend any relevant conferences or exhibitions.
- Record results through appropriate use of laboratory notebooks and computer storage and writing technical reports.
Qualifications:
- Candidate is expected to join with expertise in polymeric or composite materials arising either from education through a degree at Masters or PhD level in Chemistry, Polymer Science / Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or relevant experience in a similar role following a bachelor’s degree (minimum 2:1) in similar subjects.
- The ability to analyse test data, draw conclusions, and write concise technical reports.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated practical skills with some knowledge of thermoset chemistry (e.g. epoxy, cyanate, bismaleimides, benzoxazine) and/or composites would be an advantage.
- Strong team player and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to command the personal respect and confidence of colleagues.
- Must be willing and able to relocate, travel domestically and internationally.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in the country where the position is based.
