Research and Development Technician Apprentice
Duxford, UK.
Responsibilities
- Laboratory duties include preparing and evaluating composite materials.
- Formulating and mixings resins and other chemicals, producing films and “prepreg” materials, curing laminates and performing a range of thermal analytical and mechanical tests.
- Participating in research or new product development projects.
- Planning the technical aspects of the work with guidance from their supervisor and providing technical observations, interpretation of results and to provide and execute experimental ideas based on technical inferences.
- Developing expertise and developing a level of background understanding on technically relevant methodologies.
Qualifications
- 5 GCSE’s grade C, equivalent or above.
- Educated in a technical subject, preferably in chemistry, materials or polymer science.
- Preferably have practical experience of working in a laboratory. Practical experience in a chemical, polymer or materials science, process development or engineering environment would be an advantage.
- Keen eye for detail and practically minded.
- Able to demonstrate a proactive and methodical approach to work.
