Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Progress OpenEdge Developer with 6+ years of experience in designing, developing, enhancing, and maintaining enterprise applications. The role focuses on OpenEdge ABL/4GL development, AppServer, WebSpeed, and SOAP/REST API integrations. The candidate will work in Agile teams to deliver small to medium-sized changes using ADO and Jira, while providing application support when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain applications using Progress OpenEdge ABL/4GL.

• Develop and maintain reusable business logic, procedures, classes, temp-tables, queries, and application components.

• Build, maintain, and troubleshoot OpenEdge AppServer and WebSpeed applications.

• Develop and support SOAP and REST web services and API integrations.

• Analyze business requirements and translate them into efficient, scalable, and maintainable technical solutions.

• Implement small to medium-sized enhancements, bug fixes, and technical improvements within Agile sprints.

• Participate in solution design, effort estimation, code reviews, sprint planning, and technical discussions.

• Write unit tests, perform debugging, and ensure code quality and application stability.

• Investigate application defects and production issues, identify root causes, and implement permanent fixes.

• Use ADO and/or Jira for backlog management, sprint tracking, defect management, and release coordination.

• Maintain technical documentation, deployment instructions, and application support guides.

• Collaborate with business analysts, architects, QA, DevOps, infrastructure, and support teams.

• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior developers.

Mandatory Skills

• 6+ years of hands-on experience in Progress OpenEdge application development.

• Strong expertise in OpenEdge ABL/4GL, including procedural and object-oriented programming.

• Experience with OpenEdge AppServer and WebSpeed development.

• Strong knowledge of application integration using SOAP, REST, XML, JSON, and related technologies.

• Experience with debugging, error handling, logging, performance analysis, and application optimization.

• Understanding of software development lifecycle, Agile methodologies, code reviews, and testing practices.

• Experience using Azure DevOps (ADO) and/or Jira for Agile delivery and work management.

• Experience with source control tools such as Git, SVN, or similar.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, and team-player skills.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including client-facing interaction.

Secondary Skills

• Good understanding of Insurance domain.

• Experience with OpenEdge application deployment, configuration, and environment management.

• Basic understanding of OpenEdge RDBMS connectivity and application data access; database development is not required.

• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and DevOps practices.

• Scripting experience with PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar tools.

• Familiarity with application monitoring, logging, and observability tools.

• Experience with OpenEdge upgrades, modernization, or migration projects.

• ServiceNow administration experience or certification.

• Familiarity with React.

• Familiarity with PHP.

We are seeking a Progress OpenEdge Database Developer with 6+ years of experience in Progress RDBMS development and database-focused application delivery. The role emphasizes database design, development, performance optimization, data migration, and implementation of small to medium-sized changes in an Agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Progress OpenEdge database schemas, including tables, fields, indexes, keys, constraints, and sequences.

• Develop and optimize database queries, stored procedures, data-access routines, and database scripts.

• Analyze application requirements and translate them into scalable, secure, and maintainable database solutions.

• Optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, transaction management, and efficient data-access design.

• Develop and execute database conversion, migration, archival, and data-cleansing activities.

• Create database deployment scripts and support version-controlled database releases across environments.

• Collaborate with application developers to optimize ABL-to-database interactions and improve overall application performance.

• Implement small enhancements, database changes, defect fixes, and technical improvements within Agile sprints.

• Practical ServiceNow experience for tracking defects, changes, incidents, and releases.

• Experience with data migration, bulk loading, reconciliation, and data-quality processes.
