Hexagon Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established and growing logistics business within the air freight and cargo sector. We are looking for an experienced Warehouse Operative with previous air freight warehouse experience and a valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck licence to join a busy operation handling temperature-controlled cargo.

The Role

As a Warehouse Operative, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient handling of air cargo throughout the warehouse. Working closely with the warehouse supervisors and operations team, you will be responsible for loading, unloading, storing and preparing freight while maintaining high standards of safety, accuracy and customer service. The warehouse primarily handles perishable cargo, including chilled, frozen and ambient products, making accuracy and attention to detail essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely load and unload vehicles, from small vans through to articulated lorries
  • Operate Counterbalance Forklift Trucks (1.5T–8T)
  • Manually handle a variety of cargo, including temperature-controlled freight
  • Pick, pack, split and sort shipments accurately and efficiently
  • Build, dismantle and manage aircraft pallets (ULDs)
  • Record stock movements and maintain accurate warehouse records using warehouse systems
  • Generate and complete relevant warehouse documentation
  • Work closely with the warehouse and operations teams to meet daily workload requirements
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards and ensure compliance with Health & Safety procedures
  • Support colleagues and contribute to the smooth running of the warehouse operation

Requirements

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Minimum 3 years' warehouse experience
  • Previous experience working within the Air Freight / Air Cargo industry
  • Valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck Licence (B1)
  • Good understanding of warehouse operations and freight handling
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Reliable, punctual and proactive approach to work

Desirable

  • B2 Forklift Licence
  • Experience handling temperature-controlled or perishable cargo
