We are recruiting on behalf of a leading logistics company for a skilled Transport Planner to join their dynamic team at London Heathrow. This role is essential in ensuring the efficient movement of freight and cargo operations through effective planning, coordination, and management of land-based transport while adhering to strict safety and security regulations. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop optimal transportation routes considering distance, time, cost, and mode of transport.
- Choose appropriate carriers and logistics providers based on capacity, reliability, cost, and service agreements.
- Coordinate multiple shipments into full truckloads or container loads to maximize efficiency and reduce costs.
- Plan and schedule transportation movements, ensuring timely pickup and delivery.
- Use tracking systems to monitor shipments in transit and communicate updates with carriers.
- Ensure all transport documentation and reports are accurate, meeting legal and regulatory requirements.
- Identify potential savings and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and reduce logistics costs.
- Build strong relationships with clients, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and effective communication.
- Identify opportunities for process enhancements and drive operational excellence.
- Provide guidance on transport operations, ensuring staff meet key objectives and follow best practices.
- Adhere to all agreed operational and statutory requirements to ensure efficiency and compliance.
Requirements:
- Prior experience in transport planning and logistics operations is essential.
- Air & Road Logistics Knowledge - Strong understanding of freight, cargo handling, and transport regulations.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office and transport management systems to input and manage data effectively.
- Fluent in English (written and verbal) to engage effectively with drivers, customers, and internal teams.
- ADR & Hazardous Awareness Training (Cargo Op / Level D) is advantageous.
- Driving & Forklift License preferred (Training available if needed).
- Professional Presentation: Front-facing role requiring a professional and approachable manner.
- Flexibility: Ability to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to meet operational demands.
