Hexagon Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of our client, a respected and fast-growing Transport & Logistics company based in Thurrock for a motivated Accounts Assistant with strong Xero software experience.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing business. You’ll play a key role in keeping the numbers running smoothly behind a successful logistics operation.
The Role
As an Accounts Assistant, you’ll be responsible for:
- Managing purchase and sales ledgers in Xero
- Processing invoices, payments, and receipts accurately and efficiently
- Completing bank reconciliations and ensuring financial data is up to date
- Assisting with credit control and supplier queries
- Preparing weekly and monthly financial reports
- Supporting month-end tasks, including accruals and journals
- Assisting with VAT returns, payroll prep, and expenses
- Working closely with the Transport and Operations teams to support smooth financial processes
Requirements
- Experience as an Accounts Assistant, Finance Administrator, or similar
- Confident user of Xero accounting software (essential)
- AAT Level 3 qualified or above
- Excellent attention to detail and organisation skills
- Solid understanding of purchase/sales ledger and reconciliations
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Clear communicator — professional and confident with colleagues and suppliers
Desirable (but not essential)
- Previous experience in the Transport or Logistics industry
- Knowledge of invoice factoring, subcontractor payments, or fuel card reconciliation
