We are looking for a confident, proactive and customer-focused Application Engineer to join Hexagon’s Portable Metrology team. In this field-based role, you will provide expert application support for our portable metrology solutions, with a particular focus on Hexagon Laser Trackers and Absolute Arms. Working closely with customers and our sales team, you will play an important role throughout the customer journey – from pre-sales demonstrations and technical discussions to implementation, training and ongoing application support.
The ideal candidate will be based in Northern UK, enabling effective coverage of the Midlands and Northern UK. However, the role has a UK & Ireland-wide scope, and you will support customers across the territory wherever your expertise is needed. This is a mobile position involving frequent travel, including regular overnight stays. You should therefore enjoy working directly with customers and be comfortable spending a significant part of your working week on the road.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality technical and application support for Hexagon’s portable metrology solutions, particularly Laser Trackers and Absolute Arms.
- Visit customer sites to provide hands-on application support, troubleshoot issues and identify effective solutions.
- Partner with the sales team during pre-sales activities, including customer visits, demonstrations and technical discussions.
- Develop and programme measurement routines, ensuring solutions are delivered in line with customer requirements and deadlines.
- Create training materials and deliver professional product and application training to customers.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and share knowledge and best practices across the team.
- Follow all relevant safety, operational and customer-site requirements during field activities.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in metrology, dimensional inspection, quality control or a closely related technical field, including hands-on experience with Laser Trackers.
- A solid engineering or technical foundation, with the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and confidently apply mathematical principles in a metrology environment.
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills, with the confidence to explain technical concepts, advise customers and represent Hexagon professionally.
- A proactive, self-confident and solution-oriented approach to your work.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel extensively across the region, based on customer and business needs.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows environments.
- Fluent English.
