Ready to turn ideas into real, manufacturable products? Teconnex is looking for a Product Development Engineer to help create innovative engineered solutions for automotive and aerospace applications, taking ideas from early concept through design, prototyping, validation and manufacturing readiness. This is a hands-on engineering role where your work will not just stay on screen. You will develop practical, robust product designs that can be manufactured, validated and transferred into formal customer programmes, and are commercially viable.
What you'll do:
- Develop new product concepts aligned to customer, market and business needs
- Lead design development from concept through prototype and validation
- Create manufacturable product designs using DFM/DFA principles
- Support material selection, joining methods, forming concepts and validation planning
- Carry out design risk assessments, including DFMEA
- Manage design iterations, prototype builds and test activity
- Work cross-functionally to prepare products for industrialisation and APQP/NPI handover
What you'll bring:
- Mechanical design and product development experience in automotive, aerospace or another regulated manufacturing environment
- Strong 3D CAD capability, ideally SolidWorks
- Experience producing 2D drawings, GD&T and working in controlled PDM environments
- A good understanding of manufacturing processes such as forming, welding, machining and assembly
- Experience taking products from concept through prototype and validation
- Strong problem-solving skills and a practical, hands-on engineering mindset
- The confidence to work with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain and commercial stakeholders
Desirable experience:
- Formed metal components, ducting systems, flanges, joints or engineered assemblies
- AS9100, IATF 16949 or similar quality systems
- APQP, PPAP or structured NPI processes
- FEA, forming simulation or other analytical validation tools
- Product strategy, technology roadmap or early-stage innovation work
At Teconnex, you will be part of a team developing products that are designed, tested and built for real-world use by global automotive and aerospace customers.
