Projects span the full lifecycle from surveys and design support through to installation, commissioning, maintenance, and long-term operational support.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced and technically capable Commercial Solar PV Electrician to support commercial Solar PV and battery storage projects across the UK. This is a varied role combining hands-on site work with technical and operational responsibilities. It would suit an experienced electrician who enjoys problem-solving and is looking to progress into a more senior technical or project-focused position.

You will be involved in multiple stages of project delivery including surveys, maintenance, fault finding, commissioning, reporting, and ongoing operational support. The role includes regular nationwide travel and occasional overnight stays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on commercial Solar PV systems
  • Perform electrical inspections, testing, fault finding, and performance diagnostics
  • Diagnose faults across inverters, AC/DC infrastructure, monitoring systems, and associated equipment
  • Produce detailed technical reports, maintenance records, and remedial recommendations
  • Support pre-construction surveys and technical assessments
  • Assist with project planning, mobilisation, and coordination activities
  • Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) and procurement support documentation
  • Support DNO applications and grid connection processes including G99/G100 submissions
  • Assist with commissioning, energisation, testing, and project handovers
  • Ensure all work complies with BS7671, health & safety standards, and industry regulations
  • Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
  • Work closely with project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients
  • Identify opportunities for system optimisation and performance improvements
  • Travel to commercial and industrial sites across the UK as required

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years experience within the commercial Solar PV sector
  • Strong technical knowledge of commercial Solar PV systems
  • Experience with installation, commissioning, maintenance, and fault finding
  • Electrical testing and inspection experience
  • Good understanding of commercial inverter systems, monitoring platforms, and AC/DC systems
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
  • Understanding of DNO applications and grid connection processes
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects/sites
  • Willingness to travel nationwide and stay away when required
  • Full UK driving licence
  • DBS cleared or willing to undergo checks

Required Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation (or equivalent)
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • Inspection & Testing Qualification (2391, 2394/2395 or equivalent)
  • Solar PV Qualification (City & Guilds, BPEC, EAL or equivalent)
  • Valid ECS Card

Desirable Experience

  • Commercial rooftop and ground-mounted Solar PV systems
  • Battery storage systems (BESS)
  • EV charging infrastructure
  • Solar PV monitoring or asset management software
  • Project coordination or project management support
  • Commissioning and long-term O&M delivery
  • Multi-site commercial project experience
