An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an established national commercial flooring and Facilities Management contractor as they launch and develop a new regional operation across Yorkshire. We're looking for an experienced commercial flooring professional who knows the industry inside out and is ready for an opportunity with considerably more scope than a traditional Contracts Manager position. This is a chance to get involved at the beginning of a new region, initially taking a hands-on role across clients, contracts and operational delivery before helping build a team around you as the business grows.
The Role
- Managing commercial flooring contracts from enquiry through to completion
- Developing relationships with existing and new clients
- Identifying new opportunities and supporting sales/business development
- Surveying, pricing and understanding flooring works
- Planning and managing installation programmes
- Managing directly employed floor layers and subcontractors
- Liaising with clients, suppliers and site teams
- Managing costs, quality, programme and profitability
- Recruiting and developing the regional flooring team as workload grows
- Helping establish and grow the Yorkshire operation
About You
Commercial flooring experience is key. We're interested in speaking with people currently working as a:
- Flooring Contracts Manager
- Senior Contracts Manager
- Commercial Flooring Manager
- Flooring Project Manager
- Flooring Surveyor / Estimator with management experience
- Regional Flooring Manager
You'll need a strong understanding of commercial flooring and ideally experience across areas such as contract vinyl, safety flooring, carpet tiles, LVT and subfloor preparation. Just as importantly, we're looking for somebody who is:
- Commercially minded and comfortable dealing directly with clients
- Confident developing relationships and generating opportunities
- Experienced managing flooring projects, labour and subcontractors
- Personable, credible and comfortable representing the business
- A genuine self-starter who doesn't need to be micromanaged
Previous FM experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
The Opportunity
This isn't simply another Contracts Manager position. The successful person will have the opportunity to help establish the company's Yorkshire operation and, as the workload and team grow, develop into the individual taking overall responsibility for the region. The territory will broadly cover Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield, Sheffield, York, Harrogate, Hull and Scarborough.
