We are seeking an enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to supervise classes in the absence of teachers and ensure pupils remain engaged in their learning.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise classes and ensure the work set is completed.
  • Register attendance and maintain behaviour and progress records.
  • Promote positive behaviour and inclusion.
  • Provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Support with basic administrative tasks, displays, and exam invigilation.
  • Contribute to school activities, meetings, and training.
  • Supervise pupils during form time, seclusion, and school events as needed.

Qualifications

  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE or equivalent).
  • Confident classroom management and good communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly, calmly and independently.
  • Good organisation and ICT skills.
  • Enjoyment of working with young people.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and equality.

Desirable qualifications

  • Experience in a school setting, knowledge of SIMS, First Aid training, or experience supporting families.

Remuneration and working conditions

Salary: Grade 6, NJC scale points 13 - 17 (£26,045 - £27,800). Contract and working pattern: Permanent, 36 hours per week, term time plus 5 days. Start date: September 2026.
