This role has been designed as ‘Hybrid’ with an expectation that you will work on average 2 days per week from an HPE office.

We are currently looking for a Senior Technical Consultant to join our organization. This is a High Performance Computing (HPC) specialized position that offers in-depth exposure to Linux, High Speed Networks and Parallel filesystems.

The role holder will be part of a team responsible for performing hardware and software delivery of new customer solutions, upgrades to existing deployments and in addition L3 escalation solution support for critical HPC issues. As well as the technical aspects of the position, the individual will be expected to develop a trusted relationship, not only within the HPC Delivery team and wider HPE organization, but also with key customers throughout the EMEA region.

Responsibilities

  • Apply your technical background and knowledge of industry trends to deliver end to end HPC services, including both hardware and software, for massively parallel (MPP) supercomputer systems, clusters and storage systems.
  • Support the pre-sales team in scoping & sizing the HPC services.
  • Plan and deploy HPC HW & SW solutions through to customer acceptance.
  • Support the Deployment Program Manager team as a lead Technical Consultant for deployments.
  • Analyze, qualify, troubleshoot, resolve whenever possible the incidents with the right level of autonomy & expertise.
  • Collaborate with team members, other internal organizations, customers, and third parties (e.g. DDN, Red Hat, Altair, Nvidia, VAST…).
  • Manage the customer relationship, including verbal & written communication.
  • Be available to travel, to customers sites across EMEA.
  • Research HPC documentation & complete required training to maintain and develop HPC skills.

Education And Experience Required

  • 5+ years of professional experience and a Bachelor of Arts/Science or equivalent degree in computer science or related area of study; without a degree, three additional years of relevant professional experience (8+ years in total).
  • Advanced skills in customer service and customer facing communication.
  • Business fluency in English language.
  • Analytical mindset, able to understand all architectural dependencies of technologies in the customers’ IT environment.
  • Technical leadership.
  • In-depth Knowledge Of:
  • Linux/Unix operating systems.
  • Workload managers (preferably SLURM and/ or PBS-pro).
  • Cluster management systems.
  • Networking and security.
  • Server components including motherboards, memory and storage, network switches.
  • Ideally, An Understanding Of:
  • Storage systems and (HPC) file systems.
  • High-speed communication architecture.
  • Analog and digital circuit theory and principles.
  • Knowledge of programming and scripting (e.g. Perl, Python, C++, etc.).
  • An understanding of containerization and container orchestration frameworks such as Kubernetes and Docker Swarm.
