This is a rare chance for an ambitious highly motivated new graduate to join an industrial research Lab: The Security Lab in HPE Labs. You’ll be collaborating with HPE colleagues around the world and with our external collaborators on various open-source projects.
HPE Labs is an international research organisation with its headquarters and largest facility located in Milpitas, California. As the central research organisation for Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), HPE Labs’ purpose is to deliver breakthrough technologies and technology advancements that provide a competitive advantage for the company, by investing in fundamental science and technology in areas of interest to HPE and getting the resulting technologies ready for adoption into new and existing markets.
We are seeking a new graduate to join our research team in Bristol, UK or Galway, Ireland. The ideal candidate will thrive on looking for new innovative ways to solve problems. They will have very strong implementation skills and enjoy building robust product-ready prototypes to test and demonstrate their ideas. They will be comfortable co-designing systems and solutions with colleagues and owning the implementation of significant components.
The Security Lab researches and develops foundational security capabilities for HPE products and services in collaboration with our business units, supply chain, partners and the open-source community. Our current projects include confidential computing, post-quantum cryptography, security of AI and applications of AI to security.
Start Date: August 2026
What You’ll Need:
- A completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in 2025, or expected to graduate in 2026 with focus on Computer Science or related discipline
- Strong implementation skills with experience in one or more of the following programming languages: Python, Rust, C, or Go
- Good understanding of computer architecture, operating systems, and networking
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with professional proficiency in English
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Enjoy collaborating with others and can also work independently when needed
