As a Software Engineering Intern at HPE, you’ll gain real-world experience by contributing to business-critical projects and working with cutting-edge technologies. You’ll take ownership of meaningful work, learn from experienced leaders, and connect with other interns. Start date: July 2027 Location: Bristol, UK What you’ll do You will build practical experience across the software development lifecycle by contributing to the team’s day-to-day engineering work. Your responsibilities will include:Developing new featuresIdentifying, fixing and documenting bugsParticipating in peer code reviewsContributing to the team’s knowledge baseAnalyzing and designing software and configuration changesYou will work closely with QA engineers, DevOps engineers, software developers and architects, gaining insight into how different disciplines collaborate to deliver business-critical software.You will be joining a cohort of interns. Alongside your technical work you will have the opportunity to:Get involved with site charity and social eventsDevelop organizational and leadership skillsSupport employee resource groups and site-wide initiativesHelp shape a strong, inclusive culture across the Bristol site What you’ll need You should currently be pursuing a bachelor’s or integrated master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software development or another IT-related field, with your course including a placement year.An interest in one or more of the following areas is desirable: computer architecture; concurrent or multithreaded programming; embedded systems; Linux; networks and communications; cloud microservice development; or operating systems.You must be eligible to work in the UK and available to begin the 13-month placement in early July 2027.Technologies and experienceExperience with any of the following programming languages is desirable: assembly or another language used for embedded-system development; C, C# or C++; Java; Python; or Go.
