We are looking for a Senior SEO Campaign Manager to join our team. This is a hands-on, foundational role within the business. The Senior SEO Campaign Manager will play a critical role in growing the SEO function at Hewitt Matthews. They will be responsible for shaping our SEO offering, delivering high-quality strategy and execution for clients, and working cross-functionally with the wider agency team (paid media, web development, content, and marketing) to ensure high performance, client proactivity, innovation, and growth.

This is not a delivery-only role. It requires someone who is commercially aware, proactively contributing to account growth, and able to clearly articulate both strategic direction and performance outcomes to clients and internal teams. While this is not a line management role initially, the position is designed to grow into a management role as the SEO team scales, with a roadmap for team development, service expansion, and increased seniority shared early in the onboarding process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Relationship Management
    • Act as the main point of contact for a portfolio of SEO clients
    • Communicate strategies, recommendations, and results with clarity and confidence
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and strategic planning meetings
    • Identify and present new opportunities for account growth and upsell
    • Build long-term, trust-based relationships through transparency, results, and proactive problem-solving
    • Create and implement comprehensive SEO strategies that align with each client’s business goals
    • Carry out audits (technical, on-page, and content), keyword research, competitor analysis, and backlink reviews
    • Lead content optimisation and recommendations in collaboration with internal teams or client-side writers
    • Oversee technical improvements, working closely with developers to ensure best practices are applied
    • Monitor performance using tools like Google Analytics, Search Console, SE Ranking, Screaming Frog, etc.
    • Collaborate closely with Paid Media, Web Development, and Marketing to deliver integrated solutions, including assisting with tracking configuration and set-up
    • Provide SEO input in new website builds and migrations to ensure SEO best practices are embedded from day one
    • Work alongside the sales and marketing teams to win new SEO clients and support in pitching if required
    • Hold internal workshops to show the value and direction of SEO for the wider company, so that everyone feels involved getting it off the ground
  • Innovation & Thought Leadership
    • Stay up to date with the SEO industry including algorithm updates, SERP changes, and best practices
    • Bring fresh thinking, experimentation, and creativity into the team and client strategies
    • Identify gaps or opportunities in how SEO is delivered within the agency and drive continuous improvement
  • Reporting & Commercial Insight
    • Develop and deliver monthly and quarterly performance reports for clients with clear insights and next steps
    • Set and measure KPIs that connect SEO performance to commercial outcomes (leads, revenue, etc.)
    • Assist in forecasting performance, budgeting, and supporting commercial planning for the SEO department
  • Progression & Growth Path
    • This role is designed to grow into a leadership position as the department scales. You will be shown a roadmap for:
      • Triggers for salary progression and team expansion
      • Milestones to reach a management position
    • As this function scales, the Senior SEO Account Manager will have the opportunity to recruit, mentor, and lead a dedicated SEO team under their guidance.
