The predicted salary is between 13 - 16 £ per hour.

Hours: 20-24 hours across 4-5 days ideally but we’re open to flexibility, due to the nature of this role. You’ll be joining Hewitt Matthews and its group companies at a genuinely pivotal point. The group has recently expanded with the acquisition of Quba, bringing together two agencies with strong reputations in digital performance, enterprise development, and long-term client partnerships. As we grow, accuracy, consistency and financial discipline become even more important. This role sits right at the heart of that.

As our part-time Bookkeeper, you’ll support both Hewitt Matthews and Quba with day-to-day finance operations. You’ll play a key part in keeping our numbers tight, our processes smooth and our teams supported. You’ll work closely with our Financial Controller to ensure everything from invoicing to reconciliations happens on time, every time. Although this is a part-time role, you will be a valued member of the finance function and a contributor to the wider group’s growth and stability. This role would be ideal for someone looking for 3-4 hours per week, 4 days a week or similar.

Core Responsibilities

This list is not exhaustive but covers the typical bookkeeping duties that occur day to day. However, additional duties may need to be covered as they arise.

  • Financial Operations
  • Recording all financial transactions including purchases, sales, receipts and payments
  • Conducting bank reconciliations and identifying discrepancies early
  • Managing accounts payable and receivable including supplier invoices, client invoices and expenses
  • Preparing client invoices to agreed schedules
  • Maintaining detailed and accurate financial records for both agencies
  • Credit Control
    • Monitoring debtor lists and maintaining up-to-date tracking
    • Chasing overdue invoices via email and phone when required
    • Flagging persistent issues early and escalating to the Finance Manager
  • Budgeting & Reporting
    • Supporting the FC with monthly budget tracking and variance checks
    • Assisting the FC with the preparation of financial statements with oversight, plus providing accurate data for management accounts
  • Cross-Team Collaboration & Process Support
    • Working with teams across both agencies to ensure timely approvals
    • Recommending improvements for financial efficiency and accuracy across both agencies
  • Payroll & Compliance (Desirable)
    • Assisting with monthly payroll preparation (nice to have, not essential)
    • Supporting finance team with compliance and audit preparation
    • Preparing accurate tax-related documents and ensuring timely submission
    What Success Looks Like

    At 3 months:

    • You’re confidently handling day-to-day bookkeeping in Xero across both agencies
    • Bank reconciliations are consistently up-to-date and error-free
    • You’ve built good relationships with key team members to understand context
    • Credit control is running smoothly and debtor days have improved

    At 6 months:

    • You’re fully embedded in our monthly finance way of working
    • You’re assisting with budgeting and providing accurate data for key reports
    • You’ve improved at least one internal finance process (efficiency, accuracy, or clarity)

    At 12 months and beyond:

    • You’re a trusted, proactive member of the finance function
    • You take ownership of core bookkeeping tasks with minimal oversight
    • You support annual planning cycles with confident, accurate financial data
    • You help maintain financial discipline as the group scales into its next phase of growth
