We are recruiting for a Cloud Platform Engineering Manager to join a well-established technology business with a strong presence in the UK software sector. This is a senior role combining hands-on Azure platform engineering with people leadership. You will lead a small team of senior engineers while still remaining technically involved in architecture, infrastructure as code, automation, incident response and platform service improvement. The role is focused on building and improving internal cloud platform services for software engineering teams. You will help create secure, reliable and self-service “paved roads” that make it easier for development teams to deliver high-quality software.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and developing a team of senior platform/cloud engineers
- Owning the roadmap and direction for internal cloud platform services
- Building and improving Azure platform services, landing zones and guardrails
- Contributing to architecture, IaC, automation and technical standards
- Improving CI/CD enablement, observability, vulnerability scanning, backup and DR
- Driving reliability, incident management, post-incident learning and platform health
- Working closely with engineering, architecture and security teams
- Creating a collaborative, high-trust team culture
Skills and experience required:
- Experience with infrastructure as code, such as Terraform, Bicep or similar
- Previous experience managing or leading a team of engineers
- Strong understanding of platform engineering, DevOps, SRE or cloud operations
- Experience owning production services, incident management and reliability improvements
- Knowledge of CI/CD, observability, automation and secure cloud delivery
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- A practical leadership style, with the ability to balance technical delivery and team development
