Our client, a well-established and highly regarded Chartered Accountancy Practice is seeking a technically capable accountant to join their expanding team. The Role
Working closely with the existing accounts team, you will manage a varied portfolio of clients, providing a range of accounting, taxation and compliance services. This is a hands-on role offering excellent variety and the opportunity to build strong client relationships while supporting businesses across a range of sectors.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparation of statutory accounts to review stage
- Preparation of Corporation Tax and Personal Tax returns
- Preparation and submission of VAT returns under Making Tax Digital (MTD)
- Liaising with HMRC on behalf of clients
- Resolving client queries and providing ongoing support
- Identifying and researching technical accounting and tax issues
- Assisting with ad hoc client projects and assignments
- Supporting and collaborating with colleagues across the practice
About You
The successful candidate will have experience working within an accountancy practice environment and be confident managing a varied workload with minimal supervision. You will ideally have:
- AAT Level 4 qualified or ACA/ACCA qualified/part-qualified
- Previous experience within an accountancy practice
- Strong knowledge and practical experience of Xero software
- Experience preparing accounts and tax returns to review stage
- Sound understanding of VAT and compliance requirements
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong communication skills and a client-focused approach
- The ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Experience with payroll and PAYE would be advantageous but is not essential.
