The role:
- As Skills Project Manager, you'll be responsible for developing, managing and delivering a portfolio of skills-focused projects and initiatives.
- Working closely with partners from the public, private and education sectors, you will:
- Lead the planning, implementation and delivery of funded projects and programmes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, training providers and business communities.
- Coordinate activity across multiple partners, locations and delivery hubs.
- Monitor project performance, identify risks and implement solutions to keep projects on track.
- Produce high-quality reports, updates and recommendations for senior stakeholders and governance groups.
- Design and oversee processes for enquiries, applications and project administration.
- Support the development of new initiatives, policies and approaches that improve outcomes.
- Commission and manage external suppliers and delivery partners where required.
- Plan and deliver presentations, workshops, events and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Promote projects through effective communication and awareness campaigns.
- Act as a key point of contact, ensuring collaboration and engagement across a diverse stakeholder network.
Skills and Experience required:
- An experienced project manager with a proven track record of delivering successful projects and programmes.
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Confident working with a wide range of stakeholders and building effective relationships.
- An excellent communicator, capable of influencing, negotiating and presenting to senior audiences.
- Comfortable facilitating meetings, workshops and events.
- A proactive problem solver who can work independently and collaboratively.
- Experienced in producing reports, analysing information and making recommendations.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with the ability to manage, analyse and present data effectively.
Desirable Experience:
- While not essential, applications are particularly welcomed from candidates who have experience in:
- Skills, employability or workforce development programmes.
- Grant‑funded projects or funding programmes.
- Policy development and implementation.
- Business support, economic development or education and training environments.
- APM, PRINCE2, MSP or other recognised project management methodologies.
Additional Requirements:
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle would be advantageous.
- Willingness to travel to locations across the county and occasionally further afield.
- Flexibility to attend occasional early morning or evening meetings and events when required.
