The Role
As a Maintenance Engineer / Mechanical Fitter, you will play a key role in ensuring production equipment is maintained to a high standard, minimising downtime and supporting smooth manufacturing operations. This is a hands-on position requiring strong communication skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to work effectively with both internal teams and external suppliers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out mechanical maintenance and repair activities across manufacturing equipment
- Responding to breakdowns and clearly communicating fault status and corrective actions
- Liaising with suppliers and internal teams to support maintenance activities
- Ensuring all verbal and written communications are handled promptly and accurately
- Providing clear, concise explanations of breakdown situations to colleagues and stakeholders
- Recording key information from telephone conversations where required
- Maintaining a professional, courteous approach when dealing with suppliers and colleagues
