The Company
Our client is a well-established engineering and manufacturing business specialising in the production of bespoke tanks, conveyors and fabricated components. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Fabricator/Welder to join their skilled workshop team.
The Role
As a Fabricator/Welder, you will be responsible for interpreting technical drawings and producing high-quality fabricated assemblies, including tanks, frames and conveyor units. This is a hands-on role requiring strong MIG welding experience, excellent attention to detail, and confidence using a wide range of workshop machinery and hand tools. You will work as part of a supportive team in a busy fabrication environment, ensuring all work meets required quality, accuracy and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret technical and engineering drawings
- Fabricate tanks, conveyors and various metal components to precise specifications
- Perform MIG welding on mild steel (typically 3mm - 10mm thickness)
- Carry out metal finishing including grinding, linishing and deburring
- Use a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Operate workshop machinery including: Guillotine, Folders, Rollers, Drills
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard of accuracy and workmanship
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Follow company procedures and health & safety guidelines at all times
Skills & Experience Required
Essential:
- Proven MIG welding experience (3mm-10mm mild steel)
- Ability to confidently read and work from technical/engineering drawings
- Strong fabrication skills, including cutting, bending, tacking and assembling
- Experience using hand tools (grinders, linishers, drills, etc.)
- Competent operating fabrication machinery (guillotines, folders, rollers)
- Excellent attention to detail and quality of finish
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable:
- Experience fabricating conveyors or tanks
- Additional welding skills (TIG, stick, etc.)
- Experience in a manufacturing or production workshop environment
