The Company
Our client is a well-established manufacturing business operating within a fast-paced production environment. Due to continued investment in their site operations, they are seeking a Multi Skilled Engineer (Days) to join their engineering team, supporting the efficient running of critical plant and utilities.
The Role
Reporting to the Industrial Engineering Manager, the Industrial Engineer will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the site services function. You will be responsible for maintaining essential plant systems, completing planned maintenance, and responding to breakdowns to ensure production operations run efficiently. This is a varied role working across multiple mechanical and electrical systems, with a strong focus on reliability, safety, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete planned preventative maintenance (PM) activities in line with departmental KPIs
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical plant systems
- Respond to breakdowns promptly and communicate updates effectively
- Identify and implement improvements to maintenance procedures and PM schedules
- Maintain strong working relationships with Production, Engineering Administration and Stores teams
- Support efficiency improvements across site plant and utilities
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company procedures, legislation and safe working practices
- Complete detailed shift handovers and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities
The Person
- Minimum 5 years' experience within a manufacturing or FMCG environment
- Experience maintaining plant equipment such as compressors, refrigeration systems, pumps, motors, boilers, cooling towers or similar utilities
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
- Good communication skills with the ability to clearly report issues and solutions
- Experience using maintenance systems, work orders and permit-to-work procedures
- Ability to work independently and prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment
Desirable:
- Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems, glycol chillers or industrial boilers
- Basic welding repair skills
- HACCP Level 3 or Food Safety Level 3 qualifications (training available)
