About the Business

The business is a specialist tooling manufacturer with revenues of approximately £100m per annum, operating across six locations in the UK, France, Poland and India. Following a change of ownership, the business has undergone a successful turnaround and continues to strengthen its operational foundations. A recent acquisition has further expanded the Group. Historically, IT infrastructure across the business has been under-invested, and the organisation is now seeking to undertake a comprehensive review and improvement of its IT estate.

The Assignment

We are seeking an experienced Interim IT Director to lead a full assessment of IT infrastructure, hardware, software and external support arrangements across all Group sites. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused assignment requiring site visits, engagement with local IT teams and senior management, and the production of a clear, commercially focused roadmap for improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct a full inventory of IT hardware across all sites (e.g. servers, printers, networking equipment)
  • Compile a complete inventory of software licences, including usage levels and identification of duplication or redundancy
  • Review all external IT support providers, services provided and annual costs
  • Assess the email server and website/domain management setup across the Group
  • Document key business software systems used at each site and how they are hosted and supported (local, offsite or group-wide servers)
  • Produce a detailed written report including:
  • Summary of each site’s current IT setup
  • Key risks, gaps and issues identified
  • Recommended corrective actions
  • A practical, costed Group-wide IT improvement plan, including priorities, timelines and estimated costs
  • Comprehensive review and assessment completed within 3 months
  • Final report and recommendations presented at the end of the assignment
  • Clear proposal for next steps, with potential to extend the role into implementation and delivery
  • About You

You will be a seasoned IT infrastructure professional with a strong background in IT change management, ideally within multi-site or international environments. You will be pragmatic, commercially aware and focused on delivering solutions that genuinely support the business.

    Proven track record in:

    • IT infrastructure transformation and consolidation
    • Strong experience in email, domain and website management
    • Managing and rationalising hardware, software and support providers
    • Delivering clear, actionable recommendations to senior stakeholders

    Personal attributes:

    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
    • Highly organised and project-focused
    • Comfortable working independently across multiple locations
    • Practical and commercially minded – no “over-engineering”, just solutions that work and are future-proof

    Why Join This Assignment?

This is a high-impact opportunity to shape and influence the IT foundations of a growing international manufacturing group, with strong senior sponsorship and the potential to continue into the implementation phase.
