The service you will work in: Newham Domestic Abuse service is a community-based service, with the team co-located at various organisations in Newham. Our aim is to provide emotional and practical support to women and their children living in the community, who have experienced or may still be experiencing domestic abuse. We support access to the service and promote independent living for clients and their dependents.

A day in this role looks like: As a Support Worker at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our support service. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards empowerment and independence. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Identifying and supporting individuals involved in sex work in Newham.
  • Providing information, advice, and advocacy to sex workers, both off-street and street-based.
  • Carrying out risk, needs assessments, and support plans.
  • Providing crisis intervention as needed, ensuring safety and support.
  • Referring high-risk cases to ASEAP and MARAC, especially those controlled by pimps or traffickers.
  • Promoting multi-agency collaboration, including working with police, community safety, and criminal justice agencies.
  • Providing cover at drop-in events and attending outreach sessions between 9 pm-11 pm.
  • Maintaining accurate records in line with GDPR requirements.
