Right now, we are looking for a Waking Night Worker to play a pivotal role in our complex needs Service in Wandsworth.

This role provides overnight waking cover to ensure the safety, security, and smooth running of properties within the Cluster and on-call night hub. You will conduct regular health and safety checks, monitor CCTV and alarms, respond to emergencies, and contact on-call managers or emergency services when required. The role includes supporting clients in crisis, maintaining accurate records, and facilitating access to emergency or ongoing support. Acting calmly and professionally at all times, you will ensure a safe, supportive environment for clients while adhering to Hestia's health, safety, and safeguarding policies.

Here’s what the team will be looking for:

  • Strong experience in delivering high-quality customer service within supported or accommodation-based settings, ensuring that service users feel respected, safe, and supported at all times.
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety regulations relevant to housing environments, alongside a basic knowledge of housing management, including maintenance, repairs, and the ability to monitor and report any property-related issues promptly.
  • Proven experience in working with individuals with mental health needs, with a solid understanding of the signs, symptoms, and treatments of mental illness.
  • Confidence in recognising when a client’s mental health is deteriorating and taking the appropriate action to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate records related to both premises and clients, using computer-based systems and demonstrating strong IT skills across Microsoft Word, Outlook, and internet applications.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills to produce clear written correspondence and manage basic financial transactions, such as petty cash, with accuracy and accountability.
  • Working in line with safeguarding policies, applying your understanding of safeguarding principles to ensure the protection and welfare of all service users.
  • Combining professionalism, attention to detail, and empathy to deliver safe, efficient, and person-centred support within accommodation-based mental health services.

When will I be working?

You will be working a shift rota, covering evenings, 39 hours per week, including some weekend shifts.
