At Hestia, we are guided by our core values and are dedicated to fostering an equitable, diverse, and inclusive organisation. Our mission is to empower individuals to rebuild their lives and achieve independence. Right now, we are looking for an Employment Advisor to play a pivotal role in our Employment Services in Havering, North East London.

Sounds great, what will I be doing?

As an Employment Advisor, you will support people experiencing mental health challenges to find, retain, and thrive in employment as part of their recovery journey. Working closely with NHS Talking Therapies and other partner agencies, you will provide personalised employment support that helps individuals remain in work, return to work, or secure new employment. You will work collaboratively with clients to create tailored action plans, identifying their employment goals and the practical steps needed to achieve them.

You will provide vocational guidance including CV development, job search support, interview preparation, and advice on career progression. You will also support individuals to navigate workplace challenges, including discussions around disclosing mental health conditions and requesting reasonable adjustments. A key aspect of the role involves building strong relationships with employers and external partners to promote inclusive employment practices and ensure clients receive the support they need to succeed in the workplace.

Alongside direct client support, you will work with organisations such as Jobcentre Plus, Access to Work, Citizens Advice, trade unions, and community services to maximise opportunities and remove barriers to employment. You will manage a varied caseload, maintain accurate records, monitor outcomes, and contribute to achieving service targets while always delivering a person-centred, recovery-focused approach.

What do I need to bring with me?

You'll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires as well as match our values and mission. You don't have to tick all the boxes right away; the important thing is that you're willing to learn. We also value lived experience of the areas we support, so if you feel comfortable, please do mention this on your application.

We're looking for someone with experience providing employment support, including job search guidance, CV development, interview coaching, and job retention support. You will have experience working with people who experience mental health challenges and understand the importance of delivering person-centred support tailored to individual needs and aspirations. A good understanding of employment rights, reasonable adjustments, and workplace wellbeing is essential, alongside strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively with employers, statutory services, and community organisations. You will also be highly organised, able to manage a diverse caseload, maintain accurate records, and support individuals to access wider services relating to welfare benefits, housing, financial support, and employment-related advice. We welcome applications from candidates with lived experience.
