Hessington Health is a specialist, clinician-led Occupational Health provider delivering evidence-based workplace health services to organisations across the UK. We are expanding our senior clinical team and are seeking an experienced Occupational Health Nurse Consultant – Complex Case Manager to manage complex and high-risk cases with a high degree of professional autonomy.
This is a senior, independent practitioner role suited to an experienced OH nurse who enjoys clinical decision-making, complex rehabilitation planning, and partnering directly with managers and HR leaders to achieve safe, sustainable workplace outcomes.
This position is offered on a self-employed associate consultant basis, providing flexibility and autonomy rather than PAYE employment.
The RoleYou will operate as an autonomous Occupational Health practitioner within our nurse-led service, delivering specialist complex case management, fitness-for-work advice, and evidence-based recommendations to clients across multiple sectors.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct fitness-for-work, long-term absence and rehabilitation assessments
- Provide evidence-based clinical advice aligned with legislation and best practice
- Maintain high standards of professional and ethical care
- Participate in audit and clinical governance processes
- Produce clear, high-quality occupational health reports for managers and HR
- Maintain accurate, compliant clinical documentation (GDPR and professional standards)
- Liaise with GPs, consultants, and other healthcare professionals where appropriate
- Build trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders
- Provide specialist guidance and peer support to colleagues
- Contribute to maintaining excellent clinical standards across the service
- Registered General Nurse (NMC)
- Occupational Health qualification (Degree or Diploma)
- Significant Occupational Health experience
- Strong clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to manage an independent caseload autonomously
- Confident with digital clinical systems
This opportunity is offered on a self-employed/associate consultant basis (non-PAYE). Consultants invoice Hessington Health for agreed clinical sessions or activity, offering flexibility in scheduling and workload while maintaining professional independence.
