This is a great opportunity to join an established and growing industrial and commercial roofing company, who have been in the industry for over 28 years.
The position would suit an enthusiastic experienced Contracts Manager seeking career progression within a company that values investment in its employees. Ideally, you will be located in the Midlands area. The role covers the Midlands and the South of the country, requiring a willingness to travel, with very occasional overnight stays.
Due to the head office being in Lichfield, occasional meeting attendance will be necessary.
What We Need From You As a Contracts Manager
- Ideally 5-6 years experience in a similar role, with a strong background in the refurbishment market; experience in metal profiled industrial roofing refurbishments is essential.
- Flexible, able to travel and stay overnight as needed.
- Strong attention to detail, high accuracy, and efficiency in all tasks.
- Confident, courteous, and clear communication skills with clients and team members.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and Outlook.
- Ability to prioritise workload and react swiftly to last-minute changes and unexpected issues.
- Full clean UK driving licence.

- SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme).
- SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
- Rooftop Safety/Working at Height/Harness Inspection Course.

What The Role Involves
- Manage approximately 8 projects simultaneously, with project values ranging from £100,000 to £500,000.
- Attend customer premises (appointments arranged for you) to carry out full roofing surveys with job-specific contract files. Ensure you have all correct information/specifications before attending, including access equipment (MEWPS) pre-arranged by an office-based contracts coordinator, with structural survey coordination if required.
- During surveys, measure for material purchases and assess health and safety equipment requirements. Prepare detailed schedules for materials and health & safety requirements, highlighting any concerns with project specifications.
- Submit schedules to the office for in-house purchasing, maintaining communication to resolve any queries.
- Produce necessary RAMS and associated safety documents (including Rescue Plans, Lifting Plans, etc.) for safe project execution. Submit these documents to the Health and Safety department.
- Take full responsibility for contracts from commencement to completion, including site inductions, toolbox talks, handover of H&S documents, and handover of works. Ensure all correct PPE and other equipment is provided before instructing work to commence.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor and document progress, communicate with clients, and ensure work adheres to RAMS and safety standards. Address any concerns immediately, stopping the project, if necessary, until corrective measures are taken.
- Provide progress reports with photographs, and complete final inspection reports/handover documents at project completion.
- Maintain direct contact with the MD regularly and consistently.
- Uphold the company ethos, maintaining high standards and continually striving for improvement.
- Utilise the Work Wallet iPad app for project management and reporting.
Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 per year, depending on skills and experience.
Hours: Working Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm; some flexibility will be required around start/finish times, workload depending.
