This varied, hands-on role is essential in helping to provide safe, welcoming and well-maintained environments for the people we support, visitors and colleagues.
Working alongside the Maintenance & Grounds team, you will carry out a range of gardening, grounds maintenance and general maintenance duties to ensure our properties and outdoor spaces are maintained to a high standard. Key responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining gardens, woodland and communal outdoor areas;
- Keeping roads, pathways and hard play areas clean and safe;
- Monitoring outdoor play equipment and reporting defects;
- Maintaining fences and hedges;
- Assisting with general repairs and maintenance tasks;
- Supporting compliance checks and health and safety requirements;
- Ensuring tools, equipment and storage areas are safe, secure and well organised.
You will also work collaboratively with in-house trades, contractors and colleagues across departments, assisting with the movement of deliveries, escorting contractors where required and supporting the provision of safe and comfortable environments across our sites. This role requires travel across the Group's locations, therefore flexibility to work across different sites is essential. Working days will be Monday - Friday.
The successful candidate will have experience carrying out grounds maintenance, gardening, maintenance or similar practical tasks and be committed to maintaining high standards across all aspects of their work. You will have a good understanding of health and safety requirements and be confident using a range of grounds maintenance equipment, tools and materials safely and appropriately. You should be able to work independently, manage multiple tasks effectively and produce high-quality work within agreed timescales.
As this is a physically active role, you must be able to undertake manual handling tasks, access all areas of the premises when required and work outdoors in varying weather conditions. We are looking for someone who is reliable, punctual and takes pride in creating safe, attractive and welcoming environments. Strong teamwork skills are essential, along with the ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues, contractors, visitors and the people we support. A commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality, equality and inclusion is also required. A full UK driving licence and experience working as part of a maintenance or grounds team would be advantageous.
