We are working with the owners behind an exciting new hospitality concept launching within a landmark mill redevelopment in Greater Manchester. This venue will blend a wine-led bar, private member cellar storage and curated retail offering, creating a destination for wine lovers, collectors and the local community. Think modern European wine bar energy—great bottles, knowledgeable service, relaxed atmosphere and simple, high-quality plates designed to complement the wine.

We are now looking for a General Manager to lead the opening and shape the venue from day one.

The Role

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who loves hospitality, wine and creating memorable guest experiences. You will take full responsibility for the venue—leading the team, managing the wine programme, running events and building a space that guests and members return to time and time again. You will be visible on the floor, hosting guests, talking wine and setting the tone for the venue.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Leading the day-to-day operation of the wine bar and cellar experience
  • Recruiting, training and developing a passionate team
  • Overseeing the wine list, retail offer and supplier relationships
  • Delivering a brilliant experience for guests and private cellar members
  • Hosting tastings, wine events and member evenings
  • Managing commercial performance including P&L, labour and stock

We’re Looking For

  • An experienced General Manager or senior hospitality leader
  • Someone with strong wine knowledge and genuine enthusiasm for wine
  • A confident host who enjoys being on the floor with guests
  • A leader who can build a great team culture and run a tight operation
  • Experience within wine bars, premium bars or wine-led venues would be a big advantage.

The Opportunity

  • Lead an exciting new wine concept from launch
  • Competitive salary
  • Profit share in the business
  • The chance to build one of the region's most interesting wine venues

If you love wine, great hospitality and the idea of building something special from the ground up, we’d love to hear from you.

Hesketh James is committed to diversity and inclusion. We welcome all applicants regardless of identity, personal characteristics, or background.
