At The Learning Federation we believe that a child’s socio-economic background should not be a barrier to success. We passionately believe that children who attend Mead Primary school deserve the best education we can provide: we have fantastic pupils who are eager to learn and excited to turn up to school every day.
We achieve this because we expect all staff to make the education of their pupils their first concern, and be accountable for achieving the highest possible standards in work and conduct. We expect staff to:
- act professionally
- be self-critical and forge positive professional relationships
- have a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- work with parents in the best interests of our pupils
We are looking to appoint a hardworking and dedicated person to join our Early Years Team.
Your role will be to support pupils in their early development across the EYFS framework, assisting in creating a safe, engaging and inclusive environment.
The ideal candidate will have:
- relevant experience of working in an Early Years setting
- a Level 2 or 3 qualification in Childcare or Early Years education (or be committed to attaining this within 24 months of joining our school)
- a caring and patient nature with a strong understanding of children’s developmental needs
- experience or willingness to support the intimate care and medical needs of pupils (full training will be provided)
- the ability to adapt their supporting methods to suit varying levels of need as required
- strong communication and teamwork skills
We can offer you:
- Well behaved, hardworking and enthusiastic pupils;
- A commitment to a culture of continuous professional development
This is an exciting opportunity for an inspirational Early Years practitioner to take on a crucial role within our expanding vibrant school. The successful candidate should be brimming with enthusiasm to make a real difference to the life chances of our pupils.
Please note that in line with KCSIE 2026, the school will conduct a pre employment internet search on all shortlisted candidates.
Safeguarding
Havering Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The protection of our pupils from abuse is the responsibility of all staff within our schools, superseding any other considerations. Therefore Havering Schools comply with the Department for Education ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance.
It is an offence to apply for a post which involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children if you are barred from doing so. Please be advised that, again in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, shortlisted candidates (who wish to accept an invite to interview) will be required to submit, prior to their interview, a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. Upon submission of this information, online checks may be carried out.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; the successful applicant will be expected to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure check. Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from obtaining a position with the School.
Equal Opportunities
Havering Schools aim to promote and ensure equality of opportunity and equal treatment for all. We are committed to equal opportunities in employment regardless of gender, marital status, race, colour, nationality (including citizenship), ethnic or national origins, disabilities, age, sexual orientation, responsibility for dependants, religious or political affiliation and trade union activities. All matters related to employment are decided on the basis of qualifications, merit and business need.
