We are looking for 2 talented Senior Planning Officers with the drive and ambition to help us deliver an excellent service with an aim to be the leading Development Management service in Hertfordshire, alongside a true desire to shape and improve the borough. Hertsmere is in the process of preparing a positive vision for growth within the borough through our new Local Plan. We are also working to provide a Joint Strategic Plan for the area and striving to deliver a quality focused Development Management service which meets the needs of existing and future residents.

About the role

You will have shared responsibility for all aspects of development management processes inclusive of having your own caseload, often dealing with more complex planning issues including pre-application and appeal work as required. You will also be expected to assist and guide more junior members of the team as well as provide support to management staff.

About you

You will have a good knowledge of planning related legislation. You will be a strong team player who can contribute positively to the team and be able to demonstrate initiative and good judgement in making recommendations on a wide range of planning matters. You are capable of developing good working relationships with a range of stakeholders, including the need to respond sensitively to the needs of the community and to deliver a service around the needs of our customers.
