Join a vibrant and community focused Council where your work will bring people together and create memorable experiences across the borough. As Events Officer, you will play a central role in delivering a diverse programme of civic, cultural and community events, working with colleagues, local partners and elected Members. This will be a rewarding and varied role which offers creativity, collaboration and the opportunity to make a visible impact in the community. The post is offered as a 2 Year Fixed Term contract, on a full time basis (36 hours per week). The Council operates a hybrid working system where employees may work up to three days per week from home.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on the planning, coordination and delivery of a wide range of events, from civic and mayoral engagements to seasonal celebrations and large scale community activities.
  • Work closely with internal teams, partners and stakeholders to ensure events are well-organised, safe and inclusive, while managing logistics such as venues, suppliers, budgets and risk assessments.
  • Play a key role in building partnerships, supporting communications and promotion, and ensuring events reflect the Council’s priorities and meet professional and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • Highly organised, adaptable and confident managing multiple events in a fast paced environment.
  • Proven experience of planning and delivering successful events, strong project management skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail are essential, along with an understanding of health and safety and risk management in an events setting.
