Overview

Deputy Parks & Amenities Manager – supporting the delivery and development of the Council\’s parks, open spaces, cemeteries and allotments. You will manage a team of Parks Officers, act as deputy to the Parks & Amenities Manager, and lead on contract procurement, service improvements and the development of policies. This is a varied role where you will combine operational management with strategic input to enhance and sustain our green spaces.

Responsibilities

The post is offered on a permanent, full time basis (36 hours per week). You will manage a team of Parks Officers, act as deputy to the Parks & Amenities Manager, and lead on contract procurement, service improvements and the development of policies, while delivering operational management and strategic input to improve and sustain green spaces.

Qualifications

  • HND or degree (or working towards) in Landscape Management or Horticulture
  • Significant experience in a similar role and in managing a team
  • Strong communication, negotiation and organisational skills
  • Knowledge of parks related legislation, policies and democratic processes
  • IT proficiency, analytical ability, and ability to deliver high-quality work under pressure
  • A driving licence, access to a vehicle, and flexibility to attend occasional evening or weekend meetings

Working pattern

The Council offers a hybrid working model, with the option to work from home up to three days per week, subject to the requirements of the role.
