Hertility was born out of a need for preventative, personalised and dedicated expert healthcare across a woman’s hormonal lifespan. Hertility’s at-home diagnostic testing, telemedicine, treatments, prescriptions, and clinical services provide advanced insights into reproductive health, fertility decline, and the onset of menopause, as well as the diagnosis of 18 conditions. Hertility reduces diagnosis times for some conditions from nine years to six days.
As a Software Engineer Intern, you’ll join the Product, Engineering and Design (PED) team and play an integral role in our growing company. You’ll work on meaningful projects that make a real impact on women’s health, gain hands-on experience, develop practical skills relevant to your studies and be part of a passionate team that values curiosity, collaboration and growth.
Working within our Ops Pod, you will help expand our internal Patient Management System, working across both the Front-End and Back-End. Your primary focus will be delivering our new Consultation Intelligence feature. This involves:
- Developing a system to transcribe clinical consultation calls.
- Utilising AI to summarise notes from those calls.
- Automating the generation of letters to patients based on those summaries.
- Contributing to pelvic scan automation workflows.
This is a course related internship, so your work will align with your academic learning and provide practical experience relevant to your studies.
You’ll thrive if you’re passionate about reproductive health and bring:
- Strong programming Knowledge: You have a reasonably strong understanding of at least one programming language (TypeScript, Python, Java) and can start coding immediately.
- Technical Foundation: You are studying for a Computer Science/Engineering degree OR have significant self-taught coding experience.
- Core Concepts: You broadly understand how websites and HTTP work.
- Tooling: You are comfortable with Git and the Command Line and have experience using macOS or Linux.
- Independence: You are a self-starter who can work independently without needing constant guidance.
- Portfolio: You can demonstrate code you have written yourself (GitHub link or portfolio required).
Nice to haves: experience with any of the following: nodejs applications, React, Nextjs, and GraphQl.
You will report directly to Ted, our Fullstack Engineer. You’ll also work closely with Joe, our Ops Pod Tech Lead, Stacey, our Product Manager and the rest of the Engineering team.
We’re flexible according to your needs but the suggested working hours are 28 hours per week from Monday to Friday, with an early finish on Friday.
Interview Process:
- Initial Phone Interview: A 15-minute conversation with a member of our Talent Team to get to know you better and answer any initial questions.
- Hiring Manager + Task Interview: A structured interview with Ted and Joe focusing on your experience and key competencies relevant to the role. This will include a system design task and a live coding session.
- Final Interview: A final stage interview will be two parts with a 15 minute conversation each with two of our Co-Founders.
