The Adult Disability Service provides social care support to working age adults within a statutory framework. We are a multi-disciplinary service that includes Learning Disability Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, and Specialist Autism workers. We promote personalisation through our assessment process focusing on the wellbeing and strengths of the individual and their networks. Through care and goal based planning we strive for increased independence, choice, and control by offering personal budgets to enable people to direct their own support and live their best lives.

We are seeking a Team Manager to join a collaborative, committed and innovative management team to take on the role and responsibilities of heading up a busy locality team. The role will be crucial in developing and leading the team to truly connect and have a presence within the community that they serve and with developing key partnerships.

On a day to day basis, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring all statutory Health and Social Care tasks are delivered to a high standard. You will be able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills and front-line management experience. You will be responsible for empowering and supporting the team to deliver excellent practice leading to positive outcomes for the residents of Hertfordshire.

You will be responsible for supervising a staff team from different disciplines in a very busy community locality team. You will possess sound management skills in resource and time management; demonstrate abilities in managing competing service priorities and organisational skills in deploying resources to manage high level risk. Experience with managing a team budget would be preferred but not necessary as the relevant support will be provided. You will contribute to meeting business objectives of the service and department and participate in strategic service development, innovations, and projects.

You will have a proven ability to work flexibly and effectively across service areas and have proven abilities and experience in partnership working with Statutory, Private and Voluntary Sector organisations. And seeking the best outcomes for the people we support and their informal carers.

You will possess sound knowledge and a demonstrable ability to effectively apply legislation and safeguarding policies in day-to-day practice. You will demonstrate working knowledge and experience in relation to Equity, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion.

We are based in Stevenage however we encourage smart working with the benefit of a laptop and smart phone. You would be required to be office based 40% of the week and you have the option of working at home or at one of our touchdowns across the area.

You will work alongside an experienced management team who will be on hand for ad hoc support and guidance. The service has a strong commitment to providing practice-based supervision at all levels of the service on a four-week cycle.

We have a very exciting and well attended annual Festival of Practice (FOP). The FOP as we fondly refer to it is a weeklong Continuous Professional Developmental opportunity that runs every November and is open to all workers regardless of level and grade. The week is jam packed with external speakers who run virtual or in person workshops or webinars on relevant topics.

In addition to the formal induction for new starters, the service has formulated their own internal induction programme which includes role specific learning and a monthly peer group that is led by the management team, giving each new starter an opportunity to meet all levels of the management team.
