Job Introduction Job Title: Senior Educational Psychologists Salary: Soulbury B scale 4-7 £61,721 up to £66,156 pa, up to 3 additional SPA points, PLUS £3k annual market enhancement Hours: 37 (part time considered – min 3 days per week) Location: Based in Hemel Hempstead or Stevenage – with hybrid working and travel countywide Contract Type: Permanent Directorate: Childrens Services About Us At Hertfordshire County Council, we are focused on delivering positive and successful life outcomes for local children. With a focus on utilising an integrated practice framework, our service delivers innovative solutions to some of Hertfordshire’s most vulnerable residents. About The Role Senior Educational Psychologists play an active role in further developing our evolving work practices and promoting positive outcomes for children, young people and families. You’ll be responsible for the supervision and line management of trainee and educational psychologists under the direction of the Deputy and/or Principal Educational Psychologists, as well as areas of whole-service and area-based strategic work. You’ll provide expertise and drive performance to meet the needs of CYP and families in Hertfordshire in accordance with Children’s Services priorities. You will support with operational planning, policy matters and service delivery, working collaboratively with a range of partners in the delivery of our service. Our Service delivery model includes: ‘SEND Support’ intervention through a consultation model Systemic work and training to schools in close collaboration with the Delivering Specialist Provision Locally management groups (DSPLs) A ‘Contact Line’ for parents Crises support for schools Statutory duties We value Work/life balance and staff well‑being Autonomous and flexible psychological working practice Professional and peer supervision, in addition to line management Keeping up to date with, and contributing to, research and evidence-based practice Staff views and collaboration to best develop our Service to promote the impact made on children and young people’s life outcomes Robust quality assurance mechanisms About You Essential requirements: To be successful you must hold a Professional Masters qualification in Educational Psychology alongside Qualified Teacher Status, OR a professional Doctorate qualification in Educational Psychology and be registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council with evidence of up-to-date professional development in order to maintain registration status. You will need to have a driving licence and access to a car for work purposes. Driving required. You’ll need the ability to drive and/or travel around Hertfordshire, either using your own mode of transport or a company car to travel to other locations. English Fluency. The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post. For those whose language is a signed language, a sign language interpreter who speaks English to the necessary standard of fluency will be required.
