About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Senior EHC Coordinator to join our School Age Statutory SEND Service. This position specialises in holding a caseload, with a particular focus on special school cases. You’ll model excellence in casework practice, champion person‑centred approaches, and ensure strong communication with families, schools, and partners.
Responsibilities
- Hold a specialist caseload, including children and young people placed in special school settings.
- Oversee the quality and timeliness of EHC plan review paperwork.
- Lead statutory SEND casework within a defined locality.
- Build strong locality‑based relationships with education settings and partners.
- Provide day‑to‑day line management to EHC Coordinators and Review Officers.
- Formal supervision and staff development (PMDS).
- Induction, training, and ongoing professional development for staff.
- Accurate record‑keeping and database management.
- Contribution to quality assurance, policy development, and service improvement.
- Participation in cross‑county management groups.
Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of SEND legislation and statutory guidance, including the Children and Families Act 2014, SEND Code of Practice, and SEND Regulations.
- Previous experience with casework management.
- Proven experience in leading and managing staff, with a track record of delivering excellent service outcomes.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work under pressure, managing competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across education, health, and care services.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent, or significant experience within education or SEND‑related roles.
Legal & Practical Requirements
This role requires a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, driving ability around Hertfordshire and compliance with English language fluency standards. The position is Disability Confident; qualified applicants with a disability will be guaranteed an interview if they meet the minimum criteria for the post.
