About the Team: Hertfordshire County Council provides a range of services. Our Recycling Centre service team is committed to increasing recycling rates and diverting waste from landfill in Hertfordshire.
Responsibilities:
- Show and help service users put their waste in the correct areas.
- Check permits for vans and trailers and verify types of waste.
- Ensure waste streams are not mixed.
- Maintain a clean and tidy work environment.
- Look for ways to improve customer service and recycling rates.
- Compaction of waste using JCB’s and compactors (training provided).
- Provide cover at other Council sites across Hertfordshire (for Flexi Operatives).
- Safe sorting and handling of recyclable materials and assist with operation of equipment where trained.
Qualifications:
- Full UK driving licence.
- Access to a vehicle to travel between sites.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and locations.
- Experience working in physical effort and varied weather conditions is an advantage.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
Training and Development: Training provided includes First Aid, Fire Marshal, Manual Handling and Plant. Progression within the team is possible.
