About The Team
This role is within the Corporate Centre GIS Team which is a small team of GIS analysts who form part of the wider Community and Geospatial Intelligence team. The team is responsible for the management of the corporate GIS infrastructure which is used by staff, partners and the public. The role will be supporting a range of workstreams across the authority, whether that be providing location based spatial analysis in support of the council's service planning, or by managing Hertfordshire County Council's Enterprise ESRI suite, including application support (desktop and web), web services, and spatial datasets.
About The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the team to support the development and management of Hertfordshire's enterprise deployment of the ESRI suite of products. The post holder will provide GIS expertise, analysis and technical support for web and desktop to the user base. You will also work alongside other analysts on a variety of projects across the council, utilising a variety of different data types from often disparate sources to analyse and visualise information, making it accessible and presenting findings in a logical and attractive way.
- Providing GIS support/analysis including digitisation, editing, publishing and production of hard copy or digital maps.
- Support the ESRI Enterprise suite with use of Arc Pro Desktop, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online, Portal for ArcGIS, Web GIS apps including Experience Builder.
- Source and update spatial datasets including Ordnance Survey data. This will include processing these before loading to our Enterprise geodatabase.
- Assist with user licence management and administration.
- Provide GIS related advice via meetings and documentation and assist users with the use of GIS and promote training.
- Collaborative working with stakeholders to drive up data quality, currency and use of metadata.
- Assist with Enterprise geodatabase schema management within SQL. Configuring the geodatabase to support user workflows and access.
- Design, build and promote automated workflows with the use of Model builder, python or FabricURI.
- Keeping up with GIS advances and technology.
About You
- Essential Qualification in GIS or related subject at degree or postgrad level, or significant experience in a similar role.
- Experienced and accomplished user of Arc Pro desktop software, tools and extensions. Competent and demonstrable skills in use of ArcGIS Online and Portal for ArcGIS to include creation of content/web maps and admin of these systems.
- Experience of supporting others in a GIS/Technical capacity.
- Knowledge/experience of creating web applications.
- Experience of maintaining and processing geospatial datasets including within relational databases.
- Experience in building automated workflows and geoprocessing models using Model Builder, Python or equivalent.
- Desirable Good numeracy, analytical and computer skills for data manipulation and management (MS Excel, Power BI, Power Query, VBA, MS Fabric).
- Passion about continuing to update your GIS knowledge and skills in respect of new technology.
- Ability to produce concise documentation for user support or system management.
- Experience of programming languages and software development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, .NET).
- Experience in GIS systems integration, development and support.
- Knowledge of Ordnance Survey and PSGA related datasets and their licensing and use in map production.
- Experience of managing projects to meet deadlines.
