About The Team

Hertfordshire Libraries provide an innovative, successful service at the heart of the local community including small village libraries, town and city libraries, and performing arts libraries. We deliver key reading, health, learning, information, digital and culture offers including IT support, clubs and activities, access to digital resources and a thriving events programme to ensure we improve residents’ lives.

About The Role

The role of Customer Service Assistant is varied and directly contributes to the success of our libraries through working collaboratively to deliver excellent customer service, IT support, information services and resources to our library users and assisting with ad hoc library activities as required. You will be a friendly and confident person who is happy to work in a customer facing role. You will be competent using computer packages for logging and searching for information. You will be organised and comfortable in assisting customers to issue and return books and tidying shelves.

Letchworth Library is a welcoming community hub in the heart of the world’s first Garden City. We offer a wide range of services including book lending, computers, family learning activities and community programmes for all ages. As a busy and vibrant library, we work to support learning, literacy, wellbeing, and social connection across our local community.

About You

  • Knowledge of and/or experience of working in a customer focussed environment
  • Evidence of understanding and application of good customer services principles
  • Demonstrable organisational skills, showing a methodical ability to prioritise tasks
  • Demonstrates a desire to work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve service aims and objectives
