About the role

As an Insurance Officer, you will play a crucial role in managing liability claims submitted to the Council by members of the public, as well as handling motor and property claims. You will join a team of four officers responsible for claims handling, supported by five team members who specialize in insurance policy cover and risk management., * Manage liability, motor, and property claims efficiently.

  • Collaborate with various Council departments, insurers, and solicitors.

  • Provide excellent customer service to the public.

  • Assist in enhancing the capabilities of our new claims handling software, implemented in 2024.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrable skills in using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).

  • Experience in prioritising your own workload.

  • Experience in interpreting and implementing policies.

Desirable:

  • Experience using software to record information.

  • Previous experience in claims handling or a related field.

  • Experience of dealing with the public.

  • Innovative mindset focused on process improvement.

  • Full driving licence.
