About The Team

Our Business Support Service is looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic, and organised Business Support Senior Officers who can ensure that a high level of administrative support is provided to our departments. Our Business Support Service is a centralised unit which has been formed to deliver a co-ordinated, consistent, and high-quality service supporting service delivery across the organisation. Business Support is critical to ensuring our departments can support services to our residents, and if you have great administrative skills and a strong customer focus, you could be part of it. You’ll be working as part of the central Business Support Service with more than 400 colleagues, and you’ll be supporting our departments to ensure they are able to deliver critical services to the residents of Hertfordshire.
About The Role
Our Business Support Service supports a range of departments. If you are particularly interested in an area, please specify in your application. If we do not have any vacancies for your preferred area at this time your application will be held in a talent pool, and you will be contacted when a vacancy arises. All roles tend to be hybrid, which will mean that you will be expected to work within one of Hertfordshire County Council’s offices on a regular basis as well as working from home. Department Focus
Adult Care Services ACS focuses on enabling people to live a full and active life as independently as possible in the community. We have Older People’s and Sensory Services, Adult Disability Services, Safeguarding, DoLs and Learning & Development, along with Integrated Discharge and Transfer of Care Teams, Day Opportunities and Supported Living Services.
As a Business Support Officer, you will undertake a variety of administrative duties depending on the service including data entry and analysis, meeting support and minute taking, receiving and making telephone calls. You may be in contact with those that use our services, and a DBS may be required in these settings. Some of the roles will not be office based but may be in the Hospital Teams or Supported Living Units.

- Health Liaison Team - 37 Hours Permanent - Stevenage/Hybrid
The Business Support Senior Officer role is essential to meeting contractual obligations and KPIs within the ICB Service Level Agreement. The post coordinates the Purple Folder, supports the Purple Star team, and ensures delivery of the Purple Star accreditation through training coordination, evidence gathering, and reporting across countywide health partners. Without this role, statutory and contractual requirements would be at risk, efficiency would fall, and pressure on the wider team would increase. Retaining the post is therefore critical to service continuity, performance assurance, and delivery of agreed outcomes.
Business Support Officer Senior – Commissioning & Provider Monitoring – 37 hours Permanent – Farnham House Hybrid
This role involves a range of tasks supporting the ACS Inbox, managing and prioritising queries and completing tasks on behalf of commissioning teams. You will carry out functions using our IT System ContrOCC, including setting up new contracts, processing uplifts, adding service levels, supporting homecare processes, and creating ISF contracts. Also ensuring all ContrOCC updates are accurate, timely, and compliant with internal processes. You will be required to raise invoices and support general finance administration, liaising with colleagues as needed to resolve issues, in addition to arranging meetings and providing general administrative support to ensure smooth operations across the team.
Business Support Officer Senior Commissioning & Provider Monitoring – 21 hours Permanent - Farnham House - Hybrid
This role plays a key part in supporting the effective administration of the Integrated Health and Care Commissioning Team (IHCCT). Responsibilities include overseeing shared inboxes across Mental Health, Learning Disabilities and Autism, and CYPMHS services; providing essential governance support for contract and board meetings; coordinating actions and follow‑up; liaising with Hertfordshire Partnership NHS Trust and partners; maintaining financial administration; managing meetings, agendas, minutes and action logs; and ensuring clear, accurate communication. The role requires excellent organisation, confidence and strong attention to detail.
Senior Business Support Officer – Gypsy and Traveller Service - 37 Hours Permanent – Stevenage
We are seeking a calm, adaptable and organised individual to support the Gypsy and Traveller Service, a high‑profile team managing 11 sites across the county. The role involves handling tenant enquiries, arranging repairs, liaising with contractors, maintaining accurate records, preparing correspondence and providing general administrative support in a fast‑paced environment. The post may include occasional challenging or sensitive conversations, requiring professionalism and a solution‑focused approach. Strong communication, attention to detail and the ability to work well within a small team are essential. Experience of working with Gypsy and Traveller communities is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided Initially office-based full time, with potential for hybrid working post-induction.

Legal Services work to external professional standards including the Law Society, SRA, and Lexcel, as well as HCC policies. The role requires strict adherence to deadlines and high attention to detail to prevent data breaches.

You’ll be supporting services across our Resources Directorate, such as our Libraries and our Property Services, undertaking a range of administrative duties including meeting support, creating agendas, note and minute taking, raising purchase orders, managing invoicing and payments processes, maintaining database information and providing information as a first point of contact.
Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue
You’ll be supporting the teams in the Hertfordshire Fire Stations. Key duties include inputting overtime and on-call payments to HCC’s payroll system, managing the supply of uniform and PPE on behalf of operational staff, making and receiving telephone calls on behalf of the Fire Service, finance support with station budgets and purchasing, and providing information as a first point of contact. You will be expected to manage team commitments avoiding scheduling conflicts and deal with all general matters including correspondence, invoices, and timesheets according to local procedures.
Growth & Environment
You’ll be supporting services across our Growth & Environment Directorate including our Passenger Transport team undertaking a range of administrative duties including raising purchase orders, managing invoicing and payments processes, maintaining database information and providing information as a first point of contact.
About You

- Experience of working in a previous administrative or support role
- Organisational and multitasking skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities with a range of audiences
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software
- Experience in working as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of specialised processes and methods gained through relevant training and experience
