About the team

As part of Hertfordshire County Council, Step2Skills adult learning and employment support service (part of Hertfordshire Futures) provides opportunities for adults in Hertfordshire to get involved in learning and employment within the community. We aim to work with people who face barriers to education and employment such as low skills, learning or physical disabilities and mental health conditions as well as delivery of skills and employability programmes to support our residents to advance their careers within some of our high growth and large employment sectors such as Creative, Early Years, Digital and Green industries.

Step2Skills is looking for someone with a passion for monitoring and continuously improving the delivery of employment support services for residents of Hertfordshire. You will work in a team who manage the data and financial compliance aspects of the Connect to Work project, which is funded by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). The project is delivered through an in-house team and a network of external delivery partners and aims to support around 5,000 people with disabilities or barriers into sustainable employment opportunities by 2030.

About the role

You will be part of the central Connect to Work project team and report to the Data & Financial Compliance Coordinator, whom you will support in the overall recording, monitoring, tracking and evidencing of delivery partner data. You will be responsible for the preparation of the monthly submissions, identifying missing or incorrectly completed returns and escalating as appropriate any matters of concern, whilst also deputising for the Data & Financial Compliance Coordinator in their absence. Ultimately, you will be helping to ensure that the overall project meets the contractual requirements of the DWP grant agreement.

About you

  • Essential
  • Experience in a role that includes responsibility for data management, ideally, for 2 years or more.
  • Proficient in Excel, able to design workbooks which ensure consistent data entry and present data in a meaningful way, enabling others to interpret information.
  • Experience of managing own workload and competing priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence in calculating performance against established metrics and subsequent financial implications.
  • Desirable
  • Experience of working on adult employment support projects.
  • Experience of working within a contract management team and/or within the public sector.
