About the team

This is an exciting opportunity to take on the role of a Customer Service Supervisor at a busy library within a thriving community. As part of the local management team, you will be responsible for the delivery and promotion of all frontline services in Hemel Hempstead Library, ensuring high standards of customer service are maintained at all times. This is a job share role working with a partner Customer Service Supervisor also working 18.5 hours per week. Hemel Hempstead Library is open seven days a week and forms part of a network supporting nearby libraries including Adeyfield, Bovingdon, Kings Langley and Leverstock Green. The library also hosts a CreatorSpace with a range of technologies.

About the role

Hertfordshire’s libraries are hubs for community activities, digital technology access, creative spaces, and wellbeing. Your responsibilities include supervising a large public-facing team, managing daily library operations, staff appraisals, timetabling, training and development, and ensuring high standards of customer service across Hemel Hempstead Library.

As part of Hemel Hempstead’s local management team you will deliver and promote all frontline services and support the community as part of Hertfordshire Libraries’ Inspiring Libraries Strategy. Staff enjoy benefits such as an annual parking permit (£40 per annum) for use of Watergardens car park.

About you

  • Experience or knowledge in delivering high-quality customer service and resolving customer queries
  • Ability to supervise a team using collaboration and delegation to achieve aims
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills to manage workloads alongside supervisory duties
  • Skills to support maintaining Health & Safety, property, and training requirements in the workplace

As part of Hemel Hempstead Library’s local management team, you will have the opportunity to support the community and contribute to Hertfordshire Libraries Inspiring Libraries Strategy.
