About The Team
Hertfordshire Services for Young People provides informal education/youth work, careers education information, advice, guidance, work‑related learning, work experience and the review and maintenance of education, health and care plans for young people post‑16 / post‑school. Our vision is clear: we want young people to succeed. By joining us, you will play a vital role in helping them overcome challenges, build confidence, and achieve positive futures. We work with vulnerable young people to address emerging needs, improve life chances, and reduce escalation to more expensive and intensive services. This includes supporting those challenged in education, community or home life, to ensure a successful transition to adulthood. The young people are typically 11‑17 and up to 25 for Care Leavers and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
About The Role
- Provide employment, training and work‑related learning support to young people.
- Broker job and work experience opportunities.
- Support young people to enhance employability skills, including CV writing and interview preparation.
- Undertake health and safety assessments within workplaces.
- Deliver face‑to‑face support at young people’s centres.
- Source work‑related opportunities for clients, working directly with local employers.
- Carry out Health & Safety checks with employers to support work‑experience placements.
About You
Essential- Full UK driving licence with regular access to a vehicle.
- Ability to travel independently around the county.
- Ability to work flexibly as service needs require.
- Excellent verbal, written and ICT skills.
- Experience building professional relationships with young people.
- Strong organisational skills and time‑management ability.
- Ability to support team activities and contribute to the wider service.
- Understanding of the issues facing unemployed young people, with evidence of challenging stereotyping or other discriminatory practice.
- Experience building relationships and networking with employers.
- Ability to build rapport with young people, evidence of working individually and in small groups.
- Proactive advocacy and negotiation skills.
- Experience networking with local employers to promote employment services.
- Ability to use social media and online platforms such as LinkedIn and the Hertfordshire Opportunities Portal (H.O.P).
- Relevant qualifications in careers education, information, advice, guidance (CEIAG), youth work, or a related field.
