Job Description
Position: Food Health and Safety Manager
Location: Welwyn Garden City
Hours: Monday – Friday, 37hpw
Salary Range: £47,720 – £51,848 (based on experience)

Food safety is a top priority in this role, ensuring the highest levels of compliance in allergy management, hygiene, and catering operations. The Health and Safety Manager will develop, implement, and maintain robust food safety policies and procedures while also leading ISO 9001/14001 accreditation audits and governance.
Ensuring a safe working environment across all catering operations and office sites, this role supports the Training and Standards Manager in delivering professional qualifications. The Health and Safety Manager will be the face of people and food safety within our organisation, driving a culture of excellence in food safety and hygiene.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in occupational health & safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
- NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent (Diploma Level 6 preferred).
- Proven experience in health & safety management, with a strong background in food safety and catering compliance.
- Strong knowledge of food safety legislation, allergy management, and HACCP principles.
- Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety in Catering.
- Experience with ISO 9001 & 14001 audits.

- Extensive knowledge of food safety regulations,allergen management, and catering industry compliance.
- Strong communication and training abilities, with experience in delivering food safety training.

Main Duties:
- Develop and implement health and food safety policies in compliance with legal requirements and industry standards, with a strong emphasis on allergen management and food hygiene.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits, particularly in food handling areas, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
- Provide training on health, food safety, emergency procedures, and PPE use, ensuring staff are fully equipped with best practices for food handling and allergen management.
- Investigate incidents, especially food and allergy-related cases, implementing corrective actions and driving continuous improvement in food safety standards.
- Ensure all catering facilities, equipment, and processes meet and exceed food safety regulations.
- Liaise with external agencies and regulatory bodies to maintain strict compliance with health and food safety legislation.
- Maintain accurate records, including food safety inspections, allergen management reports, incident reports, and RIDDOR reporting.
- Promote a strong food safety culture through proactive initiatives and continuous staff engagement.
- Collaborate with procurement, training, and operational teams to ensure compliance with PPE and food safety regulations, ensuring all food safety measures are integrated into daily operations.
