The Opportunity:

Step into a strategic PSL Knowledge Lawyer role at the heart of a high‑performing Private Wealth & Inheritance team. You will play a key role in shaping technical excellence, driving consistency in legal delivery, and embedding best practice across a broad range of matters including wills, trusts, estate planning and contentious probate. Working closely with lawyers across the firm, you will influence how knowledge is created, shared and applied, while also supporting innovation, training and client‑facing initiatives. This role offers the chance to step away from fee‑earning pressures and focus on technical leadership, collaboration and continuous improvement in a forward‑thinking environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Knowledge Management & Technical Support
    • Draft, maintain, and develop precedents, templates, and guidance notes
    • Manage and enhance the team’s know‑how repository
    • Provide legal research and technical support on complex matters
    • Act as a key sounding board on trusts, estates, and contentious probate issues
    • Monitor legal and regulatory developments, including tax and probate reforms, and share updates
    • Promote consistency in legal drafting and approach across the team
  • Training & Development
    • Identify and address training needs within the team
    • Design and deliver training programmes and legal updates
    • Support trainee development and induction
    • Develop and manage the team’s Learning & Development plan
    • Keep colleagues informed on legislative and procedural changes
  • Business Development & Client Engagement
    • Support client briefings, seminars, and events
    • Contribute to pitches, proposals, and marketing materials
    • Develop thought leadership and legal insights
    • Assist with client‑facing training initiatives
    • Support the team’s innovation strategy
    • Identify opportunities to improve processes (e.g. probate and trust administration workflows)
    • Promote effective use of legal technology and knowledge systems
    • Champion a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement
    • Work closely with the Private Wealth team and wider firm knowledge network
    • Collaborate with other practice areas including tax, property, and dispute resolution
    • Support departmental strategy and knowledge initiatives
    • Encourage integration between contentious and non‑contentious teams

What we are looking for:

  • 6+ PQE in Private Client law
  • Current PSL/Knowledge Lawyer or an experienced fee earner seeking a transition
  • Strong expertise in wills, trusts, estate planning and contentious probate
  • Experience in Court of Protection and trust administration (desirable)
  • Excellent legal drafting, research, and communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Commercially aware with a strong understanding of client needs
  • Proactive, collaborative, and passionate about knowledge sharing
