Nottingham landing gear operations span a 48,000 sq. ft. facility dedicated to the manufacture of small to medium landing gear components.

Recognised as the UK Technical Centre of Excellence, the site specialises in precision machining of aluminium, titanium, and hardened steels. Equipped with advanced technologies, the facility leverages the latest manufacturing innovations and software to drive ongoing business growth and ensure operational excellence.

Job Summary

As an ME Programmer, you will be responsible for driving process improvement initiatives across engineering and manufacturing operations, ensuring all work is completed to the highest quality standards while maintaining a safe and compliant working environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Aerospace manufacturing process engineering
  • Implement manufacturing, programming, and process best practices to standardize operations, identify inefficiencies, and streamline production.
  • Optimize manufacturing processes for aerospace machined components to reduce cycle times and improve throughput.
  • Lead process improvement and rate-readiness activities to support efficient production.
  • Industrialize NPI activities, including PFMEA, process flow definition, Control Plans, Work Instructions, and shop-floor readiness.
  • Deploy engineering technologies and IT solutions to reduce NPI lead times and improve data collection.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Design teams to improve first-pass yield and reduce manufacturing defects through internal and external change requests.
  • Work alongside machinists to validate first article production of new or re-programmed parts.
  • Maintain open dialogue with machinists to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Track project deadlines and milestones, ensuring timely delivery.
  • Manage CAPEX projects in coordination with the Engineering Manager.
  • Undertake any additional duties aligned with the scope and purpose of the role as requested by Senior Management.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Advanced Engineering qualifications would benefit but not essential
  • Completed an Engineering apprenticeship
  • Must understand aerospace manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of Engineering processes inclusive of varieties of CNC 3/4/5 axis Milling machines / Turning and Mill-turn, FMS Multipallet knowledge would be of benefit but not essential
  • Must understand technical data, drawings, and diagrams
  • Ideally have manufacturing software’s experience (Catia V5, Vericut, Solid works etc)
  • Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement (5S, Kaizen, VSM)
  • Root Cause Analysis (8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa)
  • SAP / ERP & MES Systems
  • Data Analysis
  • Project Management
  • Cross-functional Team Coordination

Skills & Competencies Cations & Experience

  • Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement (5S, Kaizen, VSM).
  • Root Cause Analysis (8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa).
