This is an entry-level role, ideal for recent graduates, school leavers with strong A-levels, or those with some relevant experience or studies in finance. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience in the financial planning profession while working towards the Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning (fully supported by Heronsgate).

We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in finance, investment, and client service – no previous industry experience or business degree required.

The Role:

Over your first 18 months, you will develop a strong understanding of the financial planning process, working alongside our Financial Planners, Paraplanners and Client Services Executives. You will gradually take on more responsibilities with the aim of progressing to Junior Paraplanner within 18-24 months, supported by a clear development framework and funded study towards the Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning.

  • Support the onboarding of new clients by collecting personal, financial and policy information in a timely and accurate manner
  • Ensure all client records, files and documents are correctly maintained and up to date in line with regulatory and internal requirements
  • Upload and manage client documentation to our back office system
  • Act as a first point of contact for client enquiries via phone and email, providing clear and timely responses or escalating as appropriate
  • Schedule client meetings, track follow-up actions, and ensure documentation is prepared in advance
  • Manage digital communications including secure portal access, electronic document signing, and email updates
  • Maintain client information across our internal systems and ensure data is accurate, complete and consistent
  • Monitor and support data feeds from external providers to ensure reliable reporting and performance tracking
  • Assist the team in preparing documentation required to implement financial advice, including application forms, instructions to providers, and investment proposals
  • Proactively follow up with product providers to obtain valuations, policy details and confirmation of transactions
  • Produce supporting documents such as investment illustrations and Key Information Documents
  • Assist in the preparation of client reports and long-term financial forecasts, such as cashflow modelling
  • Support the review of client portfolios ahead of review meetings
  • Follow internal processes and ensure all activity is compliant with regulatory standards
  • Support the Financial Planning team in applying Heronsgate's centralised investment and advice approach consistently
  • Work toward building your technical understanding of financial planning through study, exams and on-the-job learning

Requirements & Skills

  • Strong academic background – A-levels or degree preferred, particularly in Maths or Economics
  • Willingness and commitment to complete the CII Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning (fully supported by Heronsgate) and clear interest in building a career in financial planning and wealth management
  • Excellent attention to detail and written communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Word and Excel)
  • Positive attitude, proactive mindset, and ability to work well in a small, collaborative team

Qualifications

You will be supported to work towards the CII Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning (no prior qualification required). A-levels in Maths or Economics are preferred but not essential. Candidates will be asked to complete a short numeracy test as part of the selection process.
